چکیده

theory. Further, trypsin and other proteolytic enzymes, by destroying the protein part of thromboplastin, would increase its dissociation and speed the transfer of cephalin to prothrombin, thus providing a mechanism for the action of trypsin on the compound, the practical significance of which Ferguson has stressed. In the case of those clotting factors which are enzymes, the theory becomes the well-known theory of Michaelis and Menten. From the foregoing it is evident (1) that this reaction of heparin should be considered in experiments requiring its use, and (2) that in studies on blood clotting, heparin activity may be affected by the presence of factors not usually considered.

Behenic Acid Monolayer and Bilayer Assemblies- A Study of Concanavalin A (Con A) Adsorption and its Interaction with Dextran Using Surface Plasmon Resonance Spectroscopy and Microscopy

Deposition of behenic acid (B.A) mono and bilayers onto gold coated surfaces was performed by Langmuir-Blodget dip-casting technique. Surface Plasmon resonance (SPR) and ellipsometry methods were employed for investigation of the monolayer and bilayer films. The adsorption of the biologically important molecule Concanavalin A (Con A) from bulk solution to these monolayers and bilayers as we...

Acyl-CoA reductase specificity and synthesis of wax esters in mouse preputial gland tumors.

Long-chain alcohols are synthesized in the mouse preputial gland tumor (ESR-586) by NADPH:acyl-CoA oxidoreductase. In this study, a series of labeled acids was tested as substrates for the oxidoreductase in a cell-free system from the tumor, and the distribution of label into alcohols, waxes, and other products was determined. The system contained the labeled acid, an acyl-CoA-generating system...

Separation and Isolation of Methyl Esters and Dimethylacetals Formed from Brain Lipids.

THE PROCEDURE of Stoffel, Chu, and Ahrens (1) for preparing and separating the methyl esters of fatty acids and the dimethylacetals (DMA) when applied to brain lipid extracts proved adequate for the nonoxygenated fatty acids and DMA. Some of the cholesterol in the extract, however, was converted to derivatives, one of which, A3kholestadiene (2), sublimed along with the methyl esters and the DMA...

Viscosity-Temperature Stability, Chemical Characterization, and Fatty Acid Profiles of some Brands of Refined Vegetable Oil

Oils of vegetable origin are of great importance in food, soap, and cosmetic industries and they may also be used as lubricants and raw materials for biodiesel production depending on their viscosity and thermal stability. This work provides insight into the fatty acid components, physicochemical properties and thermal stability of some refined vegetable oils. The Saponification values, peroxid...

Refined oil production from patin catfish (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus) by-products

In this study, oil was extracted from the liver and visceral fat of Patin (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus) and refined. The yield of oil after refining was 49.98%. The major yield loss (34.20%) happened during the degumming procedure. Fatty acids found in the crude and refined oil were C12:0, C14:0, C14:1, C16:0, C16:1, C18:0, C18:1, C18:2, C18:3, C18:4, C20:0, C20:1, C20:4, C20:5, and C22:6. The ...
